Ingrown Toenails

Do you have an ingrown toenail?

When a toenail becomes ingrown, it curved and grows into the skin, usually along the sides of the nail. This irritation by the nail often causes swelling, redness and pain.  There can even be drainage in advanced cases where the ingrown causes a break in the skin.  This allows bacteria to enter and infection can occur.

Ingrown toenails can range from mild cases without infection to severe (even life threatening) infections.

Among the many things Dr. Schmitt and his staff at Southern Star Foot and Ankle treat, ingrown toenails are one of the more common problems that is encountered.

If you have a toenail that is ingrown and needs to be treated, please feel free to contact us for an appointment as soon as possible.  Dr. Schmitt and his staff know the pain that patients experience with ingrown toenails and will try to get you in to see the doctor the same day you request an appointment.  You can also read more on Ingrown Toenails Here!
